Do I need solid programming (VB,PHP, Mysql) knowledge to become a Web designer?

Author: I am a beginner of web designing. I am familiar with Dreamveaver, Flash, CSS, Fireworks, Photoshop, Imageready. But I need to know is it enough for the web designing carrier.
looks like you got mixed up with web developer. with what you know, you can basically be a good designer. In my office we have a designer specifically with the knowledge you have and absolutely no knowledge of php, asp or any other server side languages.
be a master of your current skill set and you can go ahead in the web designing career. good luck to you.

The skill set what you have is enough to get in to the company, but it’s better if you have a sound knowledge in any one of the scripting language..All the best.

No, you may find some jobs ‘require a knowledge of’ xyz. If there is one that actually takes time to learn from your list it is mysql control. Flash is so overwhelmingly popular that you are almost guaranteed some jobs (if you can promote yourself well).
Most interactive apps are third party and you can get the support from communities or vendors. If somebody needs a bulletin board you can buy one for next to nothing and have it installed for less than you charge.

it’s enough to get u started. but u need PHP, and MySQL and Javascript to do really cool stuff. advanced Flash stuff couldn’t hurt eitheer, so learn all u can.

u can buil a webpage with dreamweaver or other similar softwares, but in web programming u should know a script languge like vbscript to implement ur page to be dynamic
